John Yambungu-Shabani is a senior humanitarian professional with more than 25 years of experience in public health, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), humanitarian coordination, and emergency response in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Within Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA), he provides strong expertise in designing and implementing robust MEAL systems, managing databases, conducting multi-sectoral assessments, and strengthening accountability mechanisms toward affected populations (AAP/MEGP).

He has worked with international NGOs, United Nations agencies, and national partners, contributing to improved quality, transparency, and evidence-based programming in complex humanitarian contexts.

With a solid background in epidemiological surveillance and community health management, John combines technical rigor, field leadership, and a deep commitment to vulnerable communities. Fluent in French, Swahili, and Lingala, with working knowledge of English, he embodies HAA’s vision of locally led, accountable, and dignity-driven humanitarian action.
